InternshipConnect: an app to support internship placements

Among the tools developed as part of the European InternshipConnect project, the app now provides practical support for participants throughout their internship placements.

Developed by the Mission Locale Picardie Maritime, it was presented to partners at the transnational meeting held in Dublin in September 2026. It brings together several features designed to facilitate monitoring, access to resources and communication between the various project stakeholders.

Tracking participants’ progress

The app enables tracking of the progress of young people taking part in the InternshipConnect programme.

It aims to make the various stages of the programme clearer and easier to follow, both for participants and for the professionals supporting them.

Accessing training courses

The app also provides access to the training courses developed as part of the project.

These resources have been designed to support the preparation for and supervision of work placements, in collaboration with the various professionals involved in InternshipConnect.

During the meeting in Dublin, the partners also worked on organising and monitoring these training courses to prepare for their use in the various partner countries.

Facilitating communication between stakeholders

An internship programme involves several stakeholders: participants, facilitators, mentors, support organisations and host organisations.

The app helps to facilitate communication between these different stakeholders and centralise various elements useful for monitoring the programme.

This continuity in communication is one of the objectives of the InternshipConnect model: to provide better support for young people before, during and after their placement.

Recognising skills through Open Badges

The app also incorporates the management of Open Badges, designed to recognise the skills acquired during the placement.

Five badges are planned for the project and must be available in the partners’ various languages. At the Dublin meeting, the partners continued their work on the procedures for validating and awarding these badges.

The aim is to provide a simple and visible tool for recognising the skills developed during the work placement and the various stages of the programme.

A tool at the heart of the InternshipConnect model

The app complements the other resources developed as part of the project: training courses, monitoring tools, the Toolbox, educational resources and Open Badges.

It thus brings together several key aspects of the programme within a single environment: tracking progress, accessing training, communicating with the professionals supervising the placement, and showcasing the skills acquired.

With this app, InternshipConnect now has a practical tool to support the implementation of placement programmes across the various partner countries.
